Outstanding International Student Award

Also known as OIS, the scholarship is a one-time award given to students based on merit, winners of this award have strong academic performance and involvement in extracurricular activities.

The above scholarships award are offered annually and does not request for any special application process, winners are picked based on the following criteria;

  1. Be a new student entering UBC for the first time from a secondary school or post-secondary (university or college)

University of British Columbia Admission Requirements for Domestic and International Postgraduate Students

  • It is required that prospective graduate students should first contact the admissions department concerning the graduate program they wish to apply for.
  • All applications must be followed by an application fee at the time of submission.
  • Applicants for the master’s degree program must have completed a four-year bachelor degree program at an accredited university or college.
  • Academic standing with at least 12 credits of third or fourth-year courses in the A grade range (80% higher at UBC) in the field of study. (for domestic student)
  • A minimum overall average in the B+ range (76% at UBC) in the field of study for domestic students. The required minimum overall average for international students depends on their location. See HERE
  • For doctoral programs, the applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree with one year of study in a master’s program with 9 credits at the 500-level or above and of first standing.
  • PhD applicants must possess clear evidence of research ability or potential.
  • Submit the GRE/GMAT test scores, the GRE/GMAT exams are optional for some graduate programs while it is required by other applicants and the required test scores of the exam varies according to the program of study. See MORE
