Following are some major points that you must know in case you want to study in the UK

Financial Management

The first step is to ensure that you have managed your finances. The financial help you might get depends on which university you want to study and from where you will be moving to the UK from. Before Brexit, all students used to get the same financial assistance as European students but things have changed ever since Brexit. Plan your finances carefully, as student loans can be hard to pay back eventually.

Planning Regarding Student Visa

Depending upon the country you might need a student visa to study in the UK

EU students, EEA students, and Swiss students

Things have changed a lot ever since Brexit was approved for EU students, EEA students, and Swiss students coming to the UK. Till 31st December students from these areas did not need any student visas.

In case you were residing in the UK till 31st December, you have the opportunity to apply for EU Settlement Scheme, you will get the opportunity to, study and access benefits and services similar to what you were getting before Brexit,

If you have moved to the UK after 31 December 2020, you should now apply for the following information on student visas.

Student visa

If you plan to study for more than 6 months in the UK or less than 6 months and want to work there then you must acquire a student visa that will be replaced by a Tier 4 student visa.

Here are some documents you need to apply for your student visa:

Certificate (CAS)

This is the 14-character reference number you will receive from your university after receiving the award.

Financial proof

Financial proof that you have enough finances to take care of your expenditure of studies in the first year. You must display proof of funds for at least £ 1,023 for 9 months to cover the cost of your day-to-day expenses. This could be financial aid, legal aid, or education debt.

English Language Skills

You usually need to demonstrate your level of English proficiency by taking a Safe English Language Test (SELT).

If you’re applying from outside the United Kingdom, you’d have to pay £348 for the student visa. Whereas, it would only cost you £470/year to get access to the NHS.

The price of a student visa is £ 348 if you apply outside the UK  if you are already in the UK and want to extend or change this visa.

Getting a healthcare plan is important as it needs to be documented in your application. It costs 235 pounds for six months or £ 470 a year and allows you to access the NHS.

For applications from outside the United Kingdom, it is important to apply at least 6 months before you begin your studies. However, if you’re applying from within the UK, you need to apply at least 3 months before you start your studies. It is important that you apply before the Visa expires.

Prepare for Life In The UK

We also recommend that you look for Facebook groups related to your university (usually with special groups for international students) so that if in doubt you can discuss it and make friends with them before you arrive!

That was all the instructions students might need before moving to the UK. Safe travels and we wish you the best of luck with your educational career!
