1. Meet the requirements

2. Choose your course and institution
Afterward, you make your choice of course and institution (college). You can search on the internet for your choice of college. Ensure that the college you want to choose is a designated learning institution (DLI). In other words, make sure that the college has the Canadian government’s approval to admit international students.

3. Take and pass English or French proficiency exam
Register and take an English language proficiency exam. The widely accepted English exams in Canadian colleges and universities are IELTS, TOEFL, and Cambridge English: Advanced.
If you wish to study in any French-speaking part of Canada, you will have to take and pass a French proficiency exam. The accepted French proficiency exam in Canada include TEF, DALF, DELF, and TCF. However, the most common is the TEF.
4. Apply to the college or university

5. Apply for a Study Permit
Upon receiving your acceptance letter, don’t hesitate in applying for a Canadian study permit. Apply for a study permit online or at your local visa application center and it will cost you CA$150 (US$117).
While applying for the study permit, you must provide the acceptance letter from your college, current passport, and proof that you can support yourself financially in Canada.
For international students that wish to study in Quebec, they will have to provide a ‘Certificat d’acceptation du Québec’ (CAQ). Your college or university will issue CAQ to you.
On certain occasions, you may have to provide your biometrics, other proofs, and an interview and these will cost you CA$83 (US$65).
6. Prepare for your journey
The moment you secure your study permit, it is now time to prepare to travel to Canada for your study.
