1.      Pittsburg State University AROTC

This is the first on the list of military schools in Kansas. Pittsburg State University is located on the southern edge of Pittsburg, Kansas. Their campus features the region’s premier facilities for hands-on technology and business education, athletics, and the arts. Pittsburg State’s academic programs are contained within four distinct colleges, each of which offers a variety of hands-on, interactive educational opportunities. The Colleges are; college of Technology, Business, Education, Arts, and Science.

This school offers a military science program.  Military Science/ROTC is a professional development program that allows you to choose and follow any major offered by the university while participating in courses specific to ROTC. Students will combine classroom work with hands-on experience in the field while learning leadership and communication skills. Upon graduation, cadets are then commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants in the United States Army, either on active duty or as a part of a reserve component (National Guard/Reserves). They also offer an Army ROTC Nursing program.

2.      Kansas State University AROTC

This is the next on the list of military schools in Kansas. The Kansas State Army ROTC Program was formed in 1863, making it one of the oldest ROTC programs in the Nation.

To date, the program has 25 alumni who have achieved General Officer rank and continues to produce Second Lieutenants on a yearly basis for service on Active Duty, in the National Guard, and the U.S. Army Reserves.

At the Department of Military Science (Army ROTC), Army ROTC is a program that will allow you to take elective (Military Science) courses along with your academic core curriculum coursework.

For over 100 years, their students have immersed themselves in rigorous academic schedules, participating in championship-level athletic programs, and being a part of one or more of over fifty extra-curricular activities and/or organization

Derby High School is home to one of the most decorated Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) in Kansas. Their athletic department offers a variety of options in sports for varsity, junior varsity, C-team, and special education athletes such as basketball, cheerleading, dance, cross-country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, track, volleyball, and wrestling.

They strive for the top in everything they do. Derby’s marching band is unparalleled, while the vocal music groups, theatrical groups, debate teams, and orchestra have earned some of the highest honors and recognitions.

4.      KU Military – Affiliated Student Center

This is the next on the list of military schools in Kansas. This center serves as KU’s centralized resource for the military-affiliated community, enabling its students to achieve their academic, personal, and professional goals as they move to, through, and beyond the university. They offer three KU ROTC programs namely; Naval ROTC, Army ROTC, and Air Force and Space Force ROTC.

5.      University of Kansas Naval ROTC

This is the next on the list of military schools situated in Kansas. The University of Kansas offers a Naval ROTC program. In this program, they make warfighters in the U.S. Naval Services. The outcome of successful completion of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corp Program (NROTC) is an active duty commission as a Navy or Marine Corps officer.

The NROTC program is a unique blend of the best traditions of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps, with both services represented in the unit staff and approach to training. They provide men and women in our program with the confidence and background necessary to lead in America’s Navy and Marine Corps and beyond.

6.       Christian Military School Wichita

This is the next on the list of military schools in Kansas. Also known as Gateway Boys Academy, this military school accepts young men from around the country, including from Wichita, Kansas. Over 1000 boys from all 50 states and internationally have changed the course of their lives at Gateway Boys Academy.

As part of the nationally recognized Teen Challenge program, Gateway Boys Academy serves teenage boys ages 11 to 17 who have made rebellious choices in life. Their military school is in the panhandle of Florida, and their campus is accessible from Wichita, Kansas, and cities around the nation.

While the program is very disciplined and structured, they focus on demonstrating the love of God to every single cadet, surrounding him with compassionate care. A number of their staff have been in the same situation, either having attended a similar program themselves or having enrolled a child of their own in their military school in the past.
